Enhanced BBSRC Studentship

A 3-year BBSRC studentship is available to study the interactions between soil microbes and soil structure. The project will seek to test and determine new methodologies that will improve our understanding of soil structure-microbe interactions, using a combination of biological and physical techniques, such as x-ray tomography, protein and sterol analysis, at the field and laboratory scale. The successful applicant will join a large and successful research team, and be provided with a range of support including training in the required biological and physical sciences.
The stipend will be enhanced to £12,500 in the first year and will increase in line with BBSRC enhanced stipends, which operate at £2000 p.a. above the standard PhDs.

Applicants should have, or expect to have, a first or upper second-class degree in a relevant subject.
