Modulation of peristalsis by endogenous mediators

Applications are invited from graduates or final year students who have or expect to gain a First or Upper Second Class degree in Biological Sciences.
This research will involve study of the role of endogenous mediators in both normal and disrupted peristaltic reflex in various regions of gut using different species including guinea-pigs and mice.
The studentship is available to start from October 2004 with a stipend enhanced by £3000 p.a. above the BBSRC standard rate. The student will also have the opportunity to carry out part of their study (3 to 18 months) in GlaxoSmithKline. Please note that the studentship is only available to UK/EU applicants.
