University of Reading: PhD Studentships in Remote Sensing and Climate Change

NERC Environmental Systems Science Centre
Applications are invited for studentships starting in October 2004 that will involve observation and modelling research in the fields of:
The diurnal cycle in clouds and water vapour
Evaluating atmospheric model simulations of the hydrological cycle
Improving the measurement of volcano deformation from space
Ocean signals of rapid climate change
The ESSC is a world-class centre for quantitative research into remote sensing of the Earth, with strong links to the University's prestigious Meteorology Department and to the mathematics and physics communities. We seek applicants from the UK or EU who hold at least a 2:1 honours degree in a mathematical or physical science. We offer a stimulating place to do research, opportunities for international collaboration, strong links to industry and good employment prospects. The stipend for these positions is £12K per year plus fees.
