Postdoctoral Research Associate

Biogeochemistry or Plant Ecophysiology

=20

A postdoctoral position is available in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University to study the influence of climate change on primary productivity and nutrient cycling in Antarctic tundra. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in biogeochemistry (C and N cycling) and plant physiological ecology (gas flux measurements). The main research project examines how climate manipulations alter the productivity, plant population dynamics and nutrient cycling of Antarctic tundra. Opportunities exist to conduct additional research examining climate change impacts on plant, soil or microbial systems at our field site, which is experiencing a rapid change in climate. The incumbent will be a member of field team working 4-5 months at Palmer Station, along the Antarctic Peninsula. Good communication skills and the ability to help manage a 3-5 person field team for part of the field season are required. The incumbent would also need to pass medical and dental examinations required prior to travel to Antarctica. The position is available immediately (June-September 2004 starting date) for two years with the possibility of renewal. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV and names of three references to Thomas A. Day at Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ via email at: tadday@asu.edu. AA/EOE
