Applications are invited for the post of Field Epidemiology Co-ordinator at the newly established MRC Epidemiology Unit. The Unit was set up in October 2003 to study the genetic and environmental determinants of obesity, diabetes, and related metabolic disorders.
You will co-ordinate the Field Epidemiology Measurement Team (currently 12 staff) across a number of sites, at which the team measures diet and physical activity and undertakes anthropometrical testing and the collection of biological samples from volunteers. You will work closely with the Unit Manager and with the Site Co-ordinators to ensure that standard practices are established and maintained and that good clinical practice is observed.
A relevant scientific degree or nursing qualification is required together with experience of managing clinical research staff, ideally in a hospital/GP environment. You will need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a good team worker with excellent communication skills. Experience of running multi-centre trials would be an advantage. You will be required to travel between different testing sites within Cambridge and the surrounding area. Some Saturday working is required on a rota basis.
The starting salary will be in the range of £24,138 - £26,704 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is supported by a flexible pay and reward scheme and optional MRC final salary Pension Scheme. We can offer 30 days annual leave entitlement, plus 2.5 privilege days and public holidays and a 36 hour working week.
Applications should quote job reference EPID/604/16, and include a covering letter and CV with the names and addresses of two professional referees who can be contacted prior to interview.
