We have two PhD studentships available from October 2004. PIMHS is a dynamic rapidly growing department achieving excellence in postgraduate teaching. Our teaching and research activities aim to supporting evidence based practice in health and social care. We work closely with the NHS Research and Development Support Unit and local NHS researchers. The studentships will be in the following areas:
Sleep Disturbance in the Elderly: The successful candidate will have a good first degree in Psychology or a health related area and possibly a postgraduate research qualification. They will be self-motivated, innovative and possess good communication skills. Epidemiology of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Applications are invited from graduates or final year undergraduates who hold or expect to gain a honours degree or equivalent with a significant component of computing and or statistical methods. The Studentships provide Home/EU tuition fees, a research salary for 3 years starting at £9,000 in the first year and rising to £12,000 in the third, and a contribution towards research expenses.
