Post-doctoral and PhD student positions are available in the group of Ludmilla Morozova-Roche, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics of Ume� University. The research focuses on experimental studies of molecular mechanisms of amyloid fibril formation and evaluation their functional role in the human body in amyloid-related human disorders such as Parkinson�s disease. The research objective of particular significance involves an application of the fundamental structural causes of amyloidosis for the development of new therapeutic strategies.
Atomic force microscopy and various spectroscopic techniques (CD, fluorescence, 1 and 2 D NMR) will be used to elucidate protein structural changes upon amyloid formation. ELISA and cytotoxicity assays will be employed to study functional role of amyloid species with well-defined structural properties. Applicants should have a background in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell or Molecular Biology and an interest in multidisciplinary research.
