Post-doctoral Positions at ORYZON genomics S.A., Barcelona

(Gracias Miguel)
Vacancies exist for senior or junior post-doctoral scientists at ORYZON genomics S.A., based in the Science Park at the University of Barcelona, Spain.
ORYZON genomics, is a young and expanding functional genomics company with two areas of activity:

1. Gene discovery in plants, using a rice model system and insertional and chemical mutagenesis, coupled with novel technology allowing high-throughput mutant detection.

2. Gene discovery for biomedical applications, applying genomics and proteomics techniques to identify genes involved in a range pathologies and diseases. These two areas are underpinned by in-house bioinformatics capabilities providing programmes for the management and integration of genomic, proteomic and biological data and for the design of DNA chips.

ORYZON is located in the Barcelona Science Park, a purpose-built complex of laboratories located on the university campus and housing some 20 different companies and academic groups active in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical research. ORYZON has a suite of fully-equipped laboratories and dedicated growth room and glasshouse facilities as well as access to the Park´s communal equipment and facilities.
We are looking for highly-motivated and enthusiastic PhD scientists from backgrounds in molecular biology, genomics, genetics and biotechnology to join our research staff. The primary involvement will be in plant gene discovery projects, but there will be the opportunity to be involved in projects across the areas of activity of the company. Candidates for these positions should have a strong technical background, with an innovative approach, good problem-solving abilities and interest in the commercial application of basic science.
Positions will initially be contracts of a defined length, with the possibility of subsequent conversion to permanent posts. Salaries will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
