The School of Architecture, University College Dublin offers a range of opportunities for research in the field of Architecture and the built environment. The principal areas of research are in conservation of the historic built environment, urban design, energy applications in buildings and the history of buildings and landscapes. The following degrees offer research opportunities:
Master of Architectural Science

This year a new Scholarship will be awarded for research in the field of historic buildings conservation. The Scholarship arises from a research-based collaboration between the Office of Public Works (OPW) and the School of Architecture. The successful candidate will be required to register for a postgraduate degree in the School. The sponsor has a requirement for substantive publication arising from the research.
The Scholarship carries a stipend (12 months) of 19,000 euro. On successful conclusion of the research, the holder of the scholarship may be invited to participate in publishing the outcomes in conjunction with the OPW and other Agencies. This phase of the project will have an initial duration of six months with an option of a further six months. Remuneration will be at a rate similar to that paid during the research period.
