Two RESEARCH ASSISTANTS WANTED to aid Phd research into the New Zealand falcon

1 Nov 2004 TO 1 Mar 2005, 3 months minimum. Volunteers will be carrying out a radio tracking study of adult NZ falcon in a plantation pine forest in the central North Island of New Zealand. The volunteers will be involved in nest location, banding, transmitter attachment and behavioural observations at the nest. New Zealand boasts some of the worlds' most unique flora and fauna and weekends will be free to explore the extensive indigenous forests adjacent to the study site - that are some of the most pristine remaining in New Zealand. Volunteers are required to work long hours, to have experience of working in the field and preferably have previous radio tracking experience. Preference will be given to those with a clear enthusiasm for raptors. Accommodation, a vehicle and field fuel are provided. No airfares or food expenses can be paid for. To apply volunteers must send a resume to RICHARD SEATON (EM: r.seaton@massey.ac.nz) with a covering letter clearly stating dates of availability, along with the email addresses of three referees.
