This is a permanent federal position. Duty station: San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Fremont, Alameda County, California. Salary: $37,041 (GS-7) to $45,309 (GS-9) depending on experience level. Employer: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Duties: The incumbent performs a wide variety of professional biological tasks and activities to assist in implementing the Common Murre Restoration Project. This seabird restoration project began in 1995 and utilizes social attraction techniques and other methods to recover extirpated breeding colonies of Common Murres along the central California coast. Specific duties include but are not limited to: designing and conducting studies and surveys; evaluating management practices; analyzing and interpreting research data; conducting counts of nesting and roosting seabirds; preparing reports and presentations; writing scientific papers; designing, installing, and maintaining social attraction and other equipment; assisting in administering budget tracking, purchasing, property management, contracting activities, and permit acquisition; assisting the computer network and e-mail administrator; and similar activities.
