The Department of Biology, Georgia Southern University, seeks candidates to fill three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. The required qualifications for these positions are demonstrated excellence in research, the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students with a high level of effectiveness, and a commitment to professional service within the University and beyond. Applicants must have the Ph.D. in the biological sciences, proficiency in English, and the ability to work with diverse populations. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. We seek applicants who will secure external funding and contribute to the department's research groups (coastal biology and vector biology/parasitology). Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to teaching in the undergraduate core curriculum and upper level courses in their specialty. Chair: Dr. Quentin Fang. One position in Vertebrate Biology. Preference may be given to someone working in the area of Vertebrate Systematics. Part of the assignment for this position will be the oversight of the department's vertebrate collections including the Savannah Science Museum Herpetological Collection of approximately 35,000 specimens. THE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY The Department has a commitment to research and teaching excellence and provides an integrative biology program leading to B.A., B.S., and M.S. degrees. The Department has 25 faculty members, 650 undergraduate majors, and 40 M.S. degree students.
