Vacancies in the Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (CCAP) at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), Argyll, Scotland

In February 2004, the freshwater and protozoan section of the Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (CCAP)relocated from CEH Windermere to Dunstaffnage Marine Laboratory to be re-united with the marine section. The entire CCAP now occupies a new laboratory and office suite in the European Centre for Marine Biotechnology. Protistologist Job Ref. D08/04.CC Full-time, Open-ended Support Scientist Grade C, £13,953 - £15,585
CCAP requires a Protistologist to be responsible for maintenance of part of the Collection. The postholder, with other members of the team, will also be expected to provide support to CCAP service activities to the user community; underpin research activities and assist with the development and exploitation of the CCAP. Candidates should have some experience of microbial work, excellent communication and team working skills and good organisational abilities.

Full-time, Open-ended Support Scientist Grade B, £12,820 - £13,536 CCAP requires a support scientist to be responsible for media preparation and sterilisation; general CCAP laboratory hygiene and other microbiological support duties as required. The postholder, with other members of the team, will also be expected to provide support to CCAP service activities to the user community and underpin research activities. Candidates should have some experience of microbial/laboratory work, excellent communication and team working skills and good organisational abilities.

Full-time, Open-ended Clerical Grade 3, £13,953 - £16,071
CCAP also requires an Administrative Assistant to be responsible for fully managing customer orders and the order database, and maintaining the CCAP website and catalogue. The post-holder will have a central role in CCAP communications within SAMS and with the worldwide user community.
