DolphinLab Summer Instructor

The Education Department of Dolphin Research Center (DRC) currently has one temporary full-time opening for a DolphinLab Summer Instructor from May 9 through August 31, 2005. DRC is a not-for-profit education & research facility located on Grassy Key, Florida, & home to 16 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and 2 California Sealions. DolphinLab, a seven-day program, surveys a wide range of knowledge, theories and ongoing research concerning dolphins, the marine environment and related issues. Requirements: (a) Responsible, organized, motivated, self-directed individual who demonstrates excellent "team player" skills. (b) Excellent presentation/public speaking skills. (c). The ability & desire to work with a variety of people on a regular basis is a must, especially youth. (d) Must be available to work flexible hours (e) have a clean driving record.
(f) Computer experience is helpful. (g) A college degree and teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
Duties: (a) Teach seminars and/or workshops. (b) Coordinate student activities. (c) Monitor dolphin observation and activities with the students. (d) Transport students in a 15-passenger van. (e) Assist with program development and evaluation. (f) Assist in preparation of pre-class and post-class activities and paperwork (g) Receive, handle and/or route telephone and email inquiries. (h) Assist with the processing of information requests. (i) Assist with resource and equipment maintenance (j) Help direct the activities of volunteers assigned to the Education Department.
