PLEASE DISTRIBUTE TO ANYONE WHO YOU THINK MAY BE INTERESTED. THANKS!
Research Assistants are needed for approximately one month of field
work (October 2004 and February 2006) in the Chiricahua Mountains,
Arizona, USA. We will be examining carnivore-rodent-plant
interactions along an elevational/productivity gradient in the
Chiricahua Mountains. Work will include mark-recapture small mammal
and carnivore work, carnivore track stations, plant surveys, and
setting up experimental rodent exclosures in three different
habitats: Desert/Juniper Woodland, Oak Woodland, and Pine Forest.
Living situation consists of camping and a yurt as home-base in the
Chiricahua Mountains. Opportunity for independent (related) study
exists. Desired Skills: hard working, ability to live outdoors and
get along with others, small mammal work or knowledge of SE Arizona
flora is a huge plus. Excellent opportunity to gain field ecology
experience in a variety of habitats and in one of the most diverse
areas of the United States. No salary availible, but expenses will
be covered (food, etc). If interested, please email JOSH DONLAN
(cjd34@cornell.edu). More information regarding the project can be
found at http://www.eeb.cornell.edu/donlan/donlan.html. thanks.
