(6) are needed for a study of wintering Mallards in Louisiana from approximately 15 Oct 2005-15 Apr 2006. Duties will include trapping and radio-tracking of hen mallards in Louisiana. Field conditions are remote and alligators, cottonmouths, and biting insects are routine hazards. Both diurnal and nocturnal habitat use data will be collected. Applicants must work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as weather permits. Preference will be given to applicants with null-peak radio-telemetry and waterfowl trapping experience. Successful applicants should have a keen interest in waterfowl ecology, must be able to communicate and interact professionally with landowners and waterfowlers, be in excellent physical condition (capable of carrying > 50 lbs up to one mile through unconsolidated marsh), and have strong organizational skills. Salary will be $1200 per month and housing will be provided. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
