Position Description:
Topic of research: The proposed study builds on an ongoing project in the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve (South-Africa), where we work with several habituated groups of vervet monkeys. We investigate how fluctuations in supply and demand influence the exchange rates of commodities offered by individuals belonging to different age-sex classes. The study is expected to include a strong experimental component.
The successful candidate will be part of a team based in Strasbourg, as well as the Applied Behavioural Ecology and Ecosystems Research Unit (ABEERU) of the University of South Africa (UNISA). We work on topics like biological markets, cooperation and social cognition and with animals like vervet monkeys, baboons and rooks,

Qualifications/Experience:
Qualified individuals of any nationality are invited to apply. Minimal qualifications include: background in behavioural ecology, experience in fieldwork, fluency in English. Qualifications that increase the likelihood of being selected include: background in evolutionary biology and evolutionary game theory, experience with primates, and fluency in French.

Salary/funding:
Net stipend (after deductions for health insurance, social security etc.) about €1180/month

Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
sufficient

Term of Appointment:
3 years
