The work will be monitoring and assessment of reforestation areas at the Cloud
Forest School, where students in grades K to 11 have been reforesting
abandoned pastures to restore the tropical cloud forest. I am seeking
someone to assist with tree measurements, counting seedlings, assessing
ground cover, and data entry. The assistant will also work with and help
mentor high school students on the project. There is also the opportunity
to monitor the bird community in terms of diversity and abundance in the
reforestation areas. Thus bird identification skills are helpful. The
assistant must have field experience and be able to work independently.
Pay is not available, but this is an ideal opportunity to develop an
independent project or be a co-author on a publication. The assistant is
needed starting in mid to late March for two to three months.
