The Department of Biology at the flagship Manoa campus of the University of Hawai’i seeks a senior colleague with a world class research program and the ability to lead the department to a new level of international achievement during a major phase of growth aimed at building strength in evolutionary biology. We are particularly interested in individuals with the vision to build research strengths that will capitalize on Hawai’i’s unique evolutionary legacy and position as the US gateway to the Pacific Rim, as well as individuals who can foster and promote successful collaborative groups across diverse research fields (seehttp://www.hawaii.edu/biology)
The department is undergoing a phase of substantial investment in human resources and will occupy a newly renovated teaching and research building in 2013. The department trains over 1000 undergraduate majors and offers a graduate program with an enrollment of approximately 100 students. Furthermore, the department is a major contributor to an intercollege graduate degree program in Marine Biology and to a graduate specialization in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation biology.
