The Institute of Molecular Virology (Director: Prof. Dr. Frank Kirchhoff) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow and a PhD student to participate in research focusing on the pathogenesis of AIDS. The positions will be funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and an ERC advanced grant. The candidates will investigate cellular factors that are involved in viral immune sensing and the host defense against HIV as well as their viral antagonists. Their work will help to define the mechanisms underlying the high levels of immune activation in HIV-infected individuals that drive progression to AIDS and may lead to new strategies to prevent these damaging effects.
Ideal candidates will be excited to do fascinating science together with a team of highly cooperative and competent lab members. They will be creative, curious, highly motivated, and have a strong background in cell biology, immunology or virology. Applicants can read, write and speak English fluently, are familiar with Microsoft office, have a strong ability to learn new techniques and to advance their scientific projects. We seek candidates with a strong interest in virology and a desire to pursue a career in research.
Please send a cover letter, brief description of research experience and interests, and CV to kristina.wohllaib@uni-ulm.de. The application deadline is February 28, 2014.
