PhD student position in immunology at the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology of the University of Munich available (head: Prof. Dr. H. Schulze-Koops). Applications are invited from highly motivated and outstanding students with a Master degree (or equivalent) in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or immunology.
The position is embedded in a research team focusing on pathogenetic mechanisms of autoimmune diseases. The PhD project will investigate the role of Tregs in inflammation, in particular in rheumatoid arthritis and its animal models. It will employ all standard methods in immunology, molecular biology and cellular biology as well as work with a recently generated conditional KO mouse of the Treg-specific surface molecule, GARP.
Requirements:
• graduation at a Master level (or equivalent) by the time of application with an above-average university degree (B+ or better; 2+ or better)
• strong interest in immunology/ autoimmunity, and enthusiastic about research lab work
• experience in cell culture and molecular biological techniques is advantageous
• qualified to communicate and perform research in English
You will:
• join a young and international research team with extensive expertise in the field of T cell biology in a recently constructed, modern state-of-the-art scientific lab (head: A. Skapenko, PhD)
• learn how to understand, think and conduct top science, and how to master the most advanced techniques in immunology and molecular/cell biology

The project is funded by the Graduiertenkolleg 1202 (Oligonucleotides in Cell Biology and Therapy) and the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the University of Munich. The salary will be according to standard public service salary (65% TV-L E13).
