We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to assist with our Discovering Galapagos communications. The successful candidate will form part of a small team in a busy and friendly office in central London, and assist on a range of communications tasks including (but not limited to):
Content research, writing and uploads for the new websites www.discoveringgalapagos.org.uk ; descubriendogalapagos.ec.
Assisting with preparation for launch events and further promotion.
Finding suitable images to complement online communications.
Assisting with the production and ordering of printed materials and merchandise.
Researching and contacting relevant press.
Assist with social media for the programme.
Assist with GCT communications more widely when required.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about conservation, communication and education. The following skills and experience would be of great benefit to your application:
Excellent personal skills with the ability to engage with a variety of different people.
Proven team working skills but also ability to work under own initiative independently.
Great written communication skills, particularly of adapting communications to different audiences.
Familiarity with website CMS and social media platforms.
Experience in education (ideally Key Stage 2 ; 3).
Ability to speak Spanish (desirable but not essential).
This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to gain experience of working in an international environmental charity, particularly in the fields of communication and education.
The successful candidate should be available to support the Trust one or two days a week (10 – 4pm) at our offices in central London (10 mins walk from Oxford Circus tube station). GCT is able to provide cover of expenses up to £10 per day. There may be flexibility to work from home occasionally.
