Researcher (temporary)
A full-time position (100 %) as Researcher is available at the Department of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Bergen, Norway for a period from January 1st 2016- July 31st 2017.
The position is financed by The Norwegian Research Council and related to the project “Novel Experimental Therapy Targeting Aggressive NG2+cells in Human Brain Tumours: role of NK cell KIR-HLA ligand interactions in efficacy”.
Work place will be at the Department of Biomedicine.
The project
The project focuses on brain cancer immunology and has the objective to characterise epigenetic and transcriptional profiles of natural killer (NK) cellular subsets from glioblastoma patients. The successful candidate will join a highly active and multidisciplinary brain cancer research centre with state-of-the-art technologies and mentoring by leading scientists. Talented post graduate fellows play a pivotal role in the continued success of the institute and gaining a fellowship here is an excellent kick- start to a research career in an environment committed to training outstanding cancer research scientists of the future.

Qualifications
must hold a doctoral degree within the field of biomedicine or related fields
must be fluent in spoken English and possess excellent writing skills
must demonstrate strong theoretical knowledge of cancer, molecular cell biology or human immunology. Techniques required for this research project include advanced molecular biology including epigenetics, transcriptomics and associated bioinformatic analysis
preferred skills include flow cytomerty, cell sorting and related data analysis
a valid licence for small animal surgery and documented competence with operation of animal MRI/PET imaging will be an advantage
a considerable emphasis will be placed on personal skills. The candidate must document ability to work independently, scientific creativity, high capacity for work including collaborative team work, and strong motivation for science

Starting salary will be found at level 59 - 62 (code 1109/LR24, currently NOK 500 300 – 528 800 a year). Further pay promotion follows ordinary meriting regulations.
