The Animal and human ethology laboratory (Rennes 1 University – C.N.R.S.) and the service dog association Handi’chiens collaborate within scientific projetcs. Within this collaboration, we are planning to apply to a CIFRE PhD grant and we are looking for a candidate.
PhD title : Characterization and training methods for service dogs helping people with epilepsy
Objectives:
- Characterization of epilepsy and identification of people with epilepsy needs
- Characterization of the service dog dedicated to epilepsy
- Impact of training methods on the dog's abilities in the context of epilepsy
The PhD student will analyze video recordings (human) and develop behavioral tests for the service dogs

Starting date : September 2016 (subject to grant agreement)
Duration: 3 years
Working place : Working time will be shared between different places in France and the ethology lab at the biological station, Paimpont, near Rennes city (France).
Competences of the candidate: Master diploma obtained no later than June 2016. University education in ethology required.
