GWCT is charity that conducts conservation science to enhance the British countryside for public benefit. For over 80 years we have been researching and developing game and wildlife management techniques.
The successful candidate would join a small research team that investigates the ecology and management of wildlife primarily within farmed areas that also includes several long-term invertebrate monitoring schemes on farmland.
Main responsibilities:
Identification of invertebrate samples.
Organising and conducting laboratory and field-based research projects.
Maintaining the FEU databases.
Assist with training and supervision of placement students.
Secondary responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of publications and other media articles.
Assist with production of reports to external funders, sponsors etc.
Assist with data analysis if skills allow.
The successful candidate will be:
Preferably educated to MSc – but minimum BSc in biological science/conservation discipline.
Preferably, though not essential, familiar with invertebrate and plant identification.
Proficient with IT.
Physically fit and able to conduct field based research.
Well organised.
A competent writer and communicator.
Confident in face to face and telephone communication.
The salary will be in the range of £18,000 - £22,000 depending on experience.
The successful candidate will be based at GWCTs Headquarters in Fordingbridge, Hampshire and will report directly to Dr John Holland, Head of Farmland Ecology.
