The position is for a 5 year fixed term
and, is available immediately. The successful candidate will lead an
independent research group with a highly quantitative and experimental
orientation. They will be an integral
part of an ambitious and highly interdisciplinary initiative on
collective behavior that involves several departments including biology
and computer science, the Max-Planck Institute for Ornithology in Radolfzell and Konstanz, and the
recently funded (32M euro) 'Center for Visual Computing of Collectives' at the University of Konstanz.
Ideal candidates would have an
interdisciplinary educational background in areas such as biology,
computer science, mathematics, physics, or the social sciences.
A PhD in one of these areas, English
language proficiency, a record of research excellence and creativity,
and a strong commitment to teaching are essential.
