We are currently looking for a motivated young biologist or student to work as a voluntary research assistant to support us in the field from mid-April until mid-July 2017.
In our research we focus on parental decisions in Lesser Black-backed gulls
in relation to aspects of their own intrinsic capacity as well as many
aspects of their social and ecological environment. During the field work
breeding pairs will be monitored and the work will include colourring
reading, behavioural observations, and the measurement of chicks to follow
their development and fledging success. In addition adults will be followed
with state-of-the-art GPS tracking systems.
Field conditions can at sometimes be difficult, and previous field
experience is desirable, but not essential. Field work will take place in
Vlissingen (the Netherlands), a driving license is a prerequisite. Travel
costs and accommodation near the field site will be covered.
