As part of an ongoing hiring initiative, the Department of Marine and Environmental Science at the Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography of Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) seeks to fill one faculty position in Coral Reef Ecology or Geology at the assistant or associate professor rank. Appointments are on a 12-month basis, with yearly renewals during the first 5 years, and then every 5yrs. The successful applicant(s) will have a Ph.D. in a field in or related to marine sciences which complements the Department's current strengths ( http://cnso.nova.edu/marine_environmental/index.html). For full consideration, applicants should submit by August 1st, 2017: (1) a letter of application, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) teaching and research statements, (4) evidence of previous and/or current extramural funding, (5) evidence of demonstrated or inferred teaching effectiveness (e.g., syllabi, teaching evaluations, letters of observation), (6) three peer
-reviewed research papers or comparable evidence of research productivity, and (7) names and contact information of three professional references from among whom the search committee chair can solicit confidential letters of recommendation.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be committed to teaching graduate and undergraduate students, mentoring, advising graduate students for theses and capstones, conducting research, publishing results, securing extramural funds, and engaging in university/discipline service.

General Information: The Department of Marine and Environmental Science is one of four departments within the Halmos College of Natural Science and Oceanography. It grants BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Marine and Environmental Sciences and serves approximately 350 undergraduate and 150 graduate students. There are presently 16 faculty members whose research centers on coral reef ecology, deep sea ecology, fisheries biology, and physical oceanography.. The NSU ocean campus is located on the intracoastal water way and adjacent to the open Atlantic. Nova Southeastern University is highly ranked and one of the largest private, not-for-profit universities in the United States..
