the University of Goettingen is offering a position as
Postdoctoral researcher in Soil Science
The position should be filled, starting 01.06.2019 and is offered
under a fixed term contract for three years, with the option to
extend with another period of up to 3 years. The salary is in
accordance with the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13)
with 100 %, which corresponds to 39.8 working hours per week.
Your duties:
The soil science of tropical and subtropical ecosystems group
conducts research on the role of soils in carbon, nutrient cycling
and trace gas exchange in natural and managed tropical and
subtropical ecosystems. Within this context, we expect that the
successful applicant will develop his/her own research profile and
that he/she will lead the trace gas laboratory as part of his/her
qualification. Teaching responsibilities are 5 SWS (weekly hours
per semester) with lectures, field and laboratory exercises.
Your Profile:
- Ph.D. with a Master/Diploma in soil science or related
disciplines (geo-ecology, environmental sciences, forest ecology,
etc.)
- Research experience in tropical and/or subtropical countries
(also as a postdoc)
- Excellent knowledge of statistics, skills in data analysis with R
and/or programming
- Experience with methods for trace gas analysis
- Scientific creativity shown by a track record of original and
innovative research
- Proficiency in English
