Research Communications Officer – Oxford Sparks
MPS Divisional Office, 9 Parks Road, OX1 3PD
Grade 6: £28,660-£34,189, dependent on experience
Deadline Thursday 9 May 2019
A fantastic opportunity is available to come and work with us to coordinate the Oxford Sparks online science engagement programme, based at the University of Oxford (www.oxfordsparks.ox.ac.uk).
Oxford Sparks aims to provide a positive engagement experience for public audiences with science and build awareness of who researchers are and what they do, through sharing high quality digital content that tells the stories of the cutting-edge science research taking place at the University of Oxford.
We’re looking for a creative and dynamic experienced science communicator to play a significant role in the delivery and development of the programme. We’re currently undertaking work to assess and grow our audiences, particularly young people and their influencers, so the post-holder will have the opportunity to shape what we do, and how we do it.
You’ll work with world-leading experts across a number of science and science-related disciplines to help create animations and podcasts, and take the lead in creating social media content (including writing articles and interviewing researchers for live streams).
The post also includes spending a portion of your time supporting wider communications activities within the MPLS Division.
So, if you love science, revel in finding ways to share science, especially via digital channels, are organised with excellent attention to detail, and are brimming with ideas and keen to make them happen, then this post is for you!
The post is a two-year fixed term post (with potential for extension) offered at Grade 6 (£28.6k+ depending on experience). We’re looking for someone with a track-record in science communication who is keen to develop further.
