The Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) within the School of Ocean

Manoa, invites applications for a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track
faculty *position
0086036 in Theoretical Ecology or Evolution* at the rank of Assistant
Researcher (Professor).
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
We invite applicants with a vision for integrative and collaborative
research and strong mathematical, statistical and computational modelling
skills. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic collaborator with
the ability to enhance a broad range of field- and lab-based projects at
HIMB. The candidate will work across taxa, spatial & temporal scales, and
coupled natural-human systems using existing or novel quantitative
approaches. The ideal candidate will have a field component of their own
research program and/or a vision for expanding their program by
collaborating with HIMB faculty on field-based research.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, population and community
dynamics, ecosystem processes, behavior, physiology, population genetics,
fisheries, and biogeography.
The position is 75% research and 25% instruction, and the successful
candidate will develop an extramurally funded research program that
complements the expertise of our existing faculty, mentor graduate
students, and contribute to instructional initiatives at HIMB and the
Marine Biology Graduate Program. The position is a full-time 11-month
appointment with nine months of state support and the expectation that the
candidate raises the remaining two months in extramural support.
The instructional component of the position should be viewed broadly and
creatively; we encourage integrative and transformative contributions that
expand the educational role of HIMB and leverage its exceptional setting
and resources.
Individual qualifications, academic excellence, and collegiality, rather
than specific research area, will be the primary criteria in selecting the
successful candidate.
