Position: Social Media Assistant (The Third Pole)
Location: London
Hours: 16 hours per week
Contract Type: fixed contract (until July 2021)
Salary: £21,391 (Per Annum, Full Time Equivalent)

Description
The China Dialogue Trust seeks a Social Media Assistant to join The Third Pole’s (https://www.thethirdpole.net/e...) team to feed into and implement our social media strategy and engagement, and to measure our impact. The ideal candidate should have training in social media and communications, with experience of using social media in a professional environment. This role will be key in increasing our online presence and ideal candidates will have a keen interest in environmental issues and special knowledge of the Himalayas and/or water.
About us
The Third Pole supports in-depth, non-partisan and original coverage of all aspects of water in the countries of the Himalayan and the Lancang-Mekong basin, to stimulate informed debate and to promote cooperation on transboundary river management. Over the years, the pioneering online forum, www.thethirdpole.net, has established a reputation as the source of accessible, high-quality and balanced material on all aspects of transboundary water in the Himalayan region.
The Third Pole is a project of China Dialogue Trust, which disseminates high-quality information and promotes communication on environment and climate change in both Chinese and English. We provide a space for open discussion, to inform and to contribute to equitable and constructive solutions to global environmental problems.
China Dialogue Trust’s primary vehicle is its unique, bilingual web platform, www.chinadialogue.net. China Dialogue Trust has offices in London, Beijing and Delhi.
Main responsibilities:
The main purpose of this role is to engage readers and grow traffic to our websites, through social media and other outreach.
Work with The Third Pole editorial team and China Dialogue Trust’s Social Media and Digital Marketing Officer to feed into and implement The Third Pole’s social media strategy.
Monitor our impact on social media to feed into funder reports and monthly team analytics reports.
Create and continually optimise paid social media campaigns to ensure efficient ad spend and that we reach our target audience.
Monitor media mentions and citations of The Third Pole’s work.
Essential skills:
understanding of and a commitment to the mission of the charity;
experience working effectively with a range of social media platforms to extend reach and impact;
ability to write engaging copy and design informative and eye-catching graphics;
familiarity with WordPress, Google Search Console, Sprout Social or similar software;
ability to collect analytic data and produce statistic reports;
strong attention to detail;
excellent verbal, written and cross-cultural communications skills;
native or proficient level English language skills;
ability to work independently, as well as part of a small team;
familiarity with and ability to work in social media landscape in one or more of the following languages - Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu.
Desirable skills:
ability to edit basic videos for social media;
an interest in the environment and climate change;
experience using social media in a not-for-profit or media
You may be asked to perform other duties as required within the remit of the role from time to time.
