SCIENTIFIC COORDINATOR FOR SEVERO OCHOA PROGRAM

CREAF is seeking for a scientific coordinator, to work full-time on the SEVERO OCHOA program (2018 SEVERO OCHOA Excellence centers, ref. CEX2018-000828-S, from the Agencia Estatal de Investigación). This contract is envisaged to start in May 2020 and end on December 2023.

TASKS
- Institutional support.
To give support to the Direction in the institutional representation of the center in local and international meetings.

- Organization of the research strategy.
To help to define an institutional strategy of alliances to strengthen collaborations with top research centers, universities, business sector and networks of excellence.
To help to update the research strategy of the center, including research, knowledge transfer, outreach, and fundraising.
To identify constraints affecting scientific production and quality, and develop initiatives to improve it.

- Coordination of associated research activities.
To stimulate creative thinking and facilitate group learning and collaboration for both young and senior researchers (internal activities, focus groups, etc.).
To lead the deployment of integrated, strategic projects.
To coordinate activities of the research and technical staff, supporting CREAF's Internationalization and Communication units as well as Direction.
To give support to young researchers’ selection.
To coordinate the exchange/international mobility program.
To give support to the deployment of the researcher's career plan.

REQUERIMENTS
- PhD degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent.
- High level of understanding, speaking and writing of English.
- At least 5 years of research experience in the topics of ecology and / or environment.
- Experience in coordination of strategic plans or multidisciplinary research and transfer proposals.
- Experience in developing proposals for competitive projects.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS
- Experience in relations with the administrations (decision makers)
- Experience as an evaluator of proposals for competitive projects at European level.
- Experience of international networking activities.
- Experience in the organization of congresses and symposia.
- Experience in the organization and participation in workshops and meetings with many participants.
- Experience in knowledge and tools transfer.
- Experience in participatory projects (citizen science, others).
- Domain of Spanish and / or Catalan.

SELECTION PROCES AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the specific scientific commission, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consists of:
1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter (maximum 500 words) and the questionnaire attached to the offer (filled), by e-mail to laboral@creaf.uab.cat, until 16 march 2020, indicating the reference code of the offer. 2. Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
3. Selection: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria.
4. Final decision: in case of finding the suitable person, the election will be formally communicated to him/her, and the identification of the chosen person will be published on CREAF job openings section.
