The not-for-profit Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) seeks a full-time Assistant Editor to join the editorial team of the open access journal Molecular Oncology.
Molecular Oncology publishes high-quality manuscripts from the full continuum of cancer research, including basic cancer research, clinical studies, and cancer policy and is ranked 35th among oncology journals. The journal is led by academic Editors-in-Chief Julio Celis and Kevin Ryan.
Members of the editorial team participate in all aspects of the editorial process, including screening of submitted manuscripts, management of the peer review process, quality control of accepted manuscripts, writing news articles and commissioning and editing reviews. Editorial staff also represent and promote the journals through laboratory visits, attending conferences and on social media.
The successful candidate will also devote part of their time to editorial work for the open access
journal FEBS Open Bio. FEBS Open Bio is the youngest of FEBS’ four journals and publishes original research across a broad range of molecular and cellular life sciences, under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Miguel De la Rosa.
We seek an enthusiastic candidate with solid background in cancer research and strong writing and networking skills. Applicants should have, or shortly expect to attain, a PhD in cancer biology, tumour immunology, cancer omics, or a related discipline. Post-doctoral experience in one of these fields is advantageous but not essential.
This is a full-time, permanent position and will be based in either our Heidelberg or Cambridge (UK) offices, when safe and appropriate.
To apply, please send a CV, cover letter explaining your interest in the position, and a 200-word
highlight of a recent advance in basic or clinical cancer research to Mary Purton (purton@febs.org).
Successful applicants should be prepared to provide contact details for two references.
The salary is negotiable according to qualifications and experience. All offers of employment are made subject to FEBS verifying an applicant’s right to work in the specified countries.
