Two educator positions
The Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum and the Insect Biodiversity and Biogeography Laboratory (IBBL https://benoitguenard.wordpress.com/) of HKU are looking for two motivated and talented individuals to work as biodiversity educators / ecoleaders.
The first position will consist in organizing and leading courses and guided tours to present the diversity and ecology of arthropods in Hong Kong. This program organized in partnership with the Nature Discovery Park of K11 Musea includes regular insect surveys on roof top, preparation of educational material for both online and in person courses, and the organization of guided entomological tours. The successful candidate should have a strong experience and knowledge in entomology, with additional skills in education or online material creation seen as beneficial for the position. A competitive salary is offered with the position open from April 1st to December 31st 2021 (9 months). Possibility for extension to be discussed at a later date.
The second position will consist in organizing visits and tours of the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum, engage with a community of followers and visitors online via social media by providing educational material on biodiversity, develop new ecological and conservation information to be added on specimens within the museum, as well as other educational tasks related to the Biodiversity Museum such as supervising a small team of volunteers. The successful candidate should have a strong experience, interest and knowledge in zoology. Previous experience in creating online material and using social media efficiently will be considered positively. A competitive salary is offered with the position open from the Spring 2021 (April-May) and for a period of 18 months.
Both jobs are offered as full time positions and require a Bachelor degree in biology, ecology or related field, as well as excellent skills to speak and write in both English and Cantonese. Both positions include occasional work on weekends (either Saturday or Sunday).
To apply, interested candidates should contact Dr. Benoit Guénard (zeroben@gmail.com) at the earliest convenience including a motivation letter demonstrating the skills of the applicant and a CV. Applicants should indicate which position they are interested in applying.
PhD positions available!
Applicants should have a strong background in ecology, entomology or a related field, with previous research and field experience preferred, and with good analytical skills. Students with high motivation to work within tropical Asian regions are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates should be hard-working, critical thinkers and independent (but keen to work with a team of researchers). Applicants should note that to be accepted within the Graduate Program of the University of Hong Kong, demonstration of academic excellence during undergraduate studies (high GPA) is a requirement.

Application, including CV, motivation letter, publication (if any) and a list of 2 references should be sent to Dr Benoit Guénard (https://benoitguenard.wordpress.com/) before November 10th 2020.
