Urgent vacancy in the University of Granada (Spain) on Social-ecological interactions for ecosystem service valuation.

"The University of Granada, Spain seeks a post-doctoral research associate for a newly funded, LifeWatch ERIC Research project "Thematic Center on Mountain Ecosystem & Remote sensing, Deep learning-AI e-Services University of Granada-Sierra Nevada". Centered in the Mountain region of Andalucia (Southern Spain), this exciting and interdisciplinary project brings together conservation biologists, ecologists, local peoples, social scientists, land managers, and IT engineers to co-design incorporate all existing sources of information (including scientific outputs and technical data) on biodiversity and global change in Sierra Nevada, through a long-term physical and virtual European e-infrastructure for research and monitoring that allows to optimize adaptive conservation and ecosystems service supply of mountain ecosystems. The post-doc will work with the team on a work package particularly focused on the assessment and valuation of ecosystem services, but also in collaboration with complementary areas of research (climate change, biodiversity, remote sensing, among others). The primary tasks of the postdoc will be to organize workshops with local people and managers, as well as to facilitate multi-actor communication across sectors (academy, business and governmental) for the quantification of ecosystem services through the development of socio-cultural approaches, including the design and administration of social questionnaires and participatory mapping, and respective data analysis. The start date is 1 January 2022 or as soon as possible after that. You must have a PhD in hand by the start date. The position is until 30-June-2023, with possible extension until May 2025, and long-term continuation with the research group/institution. The gross salary is 2500 EUR/month, and the postdoc should be based at the University of Granada (IISTA, Sierra Nevada Global Change Observatory).
