The LOEWE Center for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (LOEWE-TBG, https://tbg.senckenberg.de/) aims at making the genomic basis of biological diversity accessible for basic and applied research. Building on genome sequencing and analysis, LOEWE-TBG research topics range from comparative genomics, natural products genomics, and genomic biomonitoring to functional environmental genomics. LOEWE-TBG is based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and is a joint venture of the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN), Goethe-University Frankfurt, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen and Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology.

The Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung and the LOEWE-TBG invite applications for a PostDoc (m/f/d) Position in Genomic Wildlife Monitoring/ Population Genomics of European Mammals (full time, 3 years)

Your tasks
  • (Re-)Sequencing, assembly, and annotation of genomes from recolonizing (e.g., wolf, lynx, beaver) and invasive (e.g., raccoon, raccoon dog, mink) European mammals
  • Analyses of large population genomic data sets to study population structure, dispersal, gene-flow and rapid adaptive evolution in mammals expanding in anthropogenic environments
  • Coordinating research and communication within a large network of international scientists
  • Publication of results in high-profile international journals
Your profile
  • PhD in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or a related subject
  • Experience with analyzing genome data and population genomic analysis Exceptional interest in wildlife biology and population genomics
  • Teamwork oriented and excellent communication skills with proficiency in written and oral English
