Researcher

This is a full-time position. We strongly prefer you to be with us in Boston, Massachusetts but we are willing to consider exceptional remote applicants. The expected salary is $90-120k, depending on experience.

You’re a researcher who will help us find and evaluate specific opportunities and broad areas of research in the life sciences. You have a favorite methods section. You’re always tracking down obscure sources. You’re that friend who accidentally rattles off a whole review paper in conversation.

The details of this job will depend on your skills, but we suspect that you would spend most of your days doing things like:
Talking to researchers you and we find intriguing and figuring out what’s most interesting about them and their research.
Identifying promising research areas.
Taking notes on the state of various fields.
Advising researchers on their projects.
Reading and reviewing other people’s work from within New Science, giving suggestions, making connections.

You should expect spending a lot of your time serving as an internal, incredibly broadly-minded technical expert, who would be evaluating the potential of the concrete scientific ideas or fields we’re looking into and a lot of your time independently looking for promising people, ideas, and directions of research that we are not looking into but we should get into.
