Blueyou Consulting Ltd. is seeking to fill a new position, with immediate start or no later than August 2022:
Scientific Fishery & Aquaculture Consulting Assistant | Part-Time (50-60%)
The Position
Blueyou Consulting Ltd. was mandated to develop a robust set of exceptionally stringent environmental and social sourcing standards for a private sector food company. You will be involved in co-developing these standards in concert with our client as well as external fishery and aquaculture experts. Further, you will be the main contact for the assessment of the client’s seafood origins based on the newly developed sourcing standards. Together with the small team at Blueyou’s headquarters, you will develop standardized assessment methodologies and summary reports which will be made publicly available. You will also help provide general scientific fishery and aquaculture support to our clients.
Further, you will be involved in Blueyou’s Seafood Climate Impact Program which conducts Life-Cycle-Assessments (LCA) of seafood origins with exceptional data granularity. You will be involved in primary data acquisition from fishery and aquaculture operations, further developing the existing data questionaries and preparation of the data for later analysis.
This position offers the benefit of full flexibility of your work location. Except for a few in-person meetings per year, for which you would need to travel to our headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, the tasks are designed to be
completely desk-based and can be done from your home office. Working hours are flexible, with the exception of certain defined times/days and occasional online meetings. Deadlines need to be strictly met.
Your Profile
You are an intrinsically motivated, independent and well-organized person with a passion for technical details, producing excellent quality deliverables on a publishable level. You have an MSc degree in fisheries, marine science, or similar and thorough understanding of the well-known fishery and aquaculture standards such as MSC, ASC or Organic Standards as well as a very good understanding of fishery and aquaculture operations and management. An excellent level in English (written and oral) is a must, German is a plus but not required. Very
good knowledge of MS Office is required. Work experience is not strictly required but a dedicated work style and willingness to acquire detailed knowledge on specific fishery/aquaculture topics is crucial for this position.
As you will also be involved in the data gathering process and further development of our ongoing Seafood Climate Impact Program, ideally you also have experience with product carbon footprinting or Life Cycle Assessments specifically in the seafood industry.
