Research Associate
WCT’s Makara programme is looking for a Research Associate to help develop a conservation roadmap for gharials and associated riverscapes through population surveys, hydrological monitoring, threat assessments, capacity building, and public engagement. This project requires a Research Associate with an interest in crocodilians, river ecosystems, and applied conservation. Project tasks will involve data collection, synthesis, reporting, communication, and project coordination.
The Chambal region will be the primary project site, and secondary sites will include the Son, Gandak and Ghaghara rivers. The position will be based, at least partly, in the Chambal region. A largely desk-based, work-from-home arrangement is negotiable.
The candidate should be familiar with remote sensing, GIS, and basic data management and processing. Programming skills will be an advantage.
A commitment of 2 years, at least, will be ideal and may be extended subject to review.
This position is suitable for early-career (JRF-level) researchers. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualification, and eligible for annual increments subject to review.
Interested candidates may send a brief letter of interest and an updated CV (PDFs preferrable) to Tarun Nair via email to tarun@wctindia.org
Send in your application before November 05, 2022.
