PostDoc in Forest Engineering and Optimization 80 – 100% (f/m/d)
In the framework of the project Edge "Enabling Decentralized renewable GEneration in the Swiss cities, midlands, and the Alps" we are looking for a new team member who would like to work on the biomass potential of the Swiss Alps. First, the current biomass potential will be estimated. Based on this, it will be assessed how this potential can be increased if wood harvesting methods and forestry access are optimized. The respective methods are available and are to be applied and, if necessary, further developed in the context of the project.
You have studied forestry, environmental or natural sciences and have recently completed your doctoral studies. You have a good knowledge of Central European / Alpine forest management, especially in the field of forest engineering, and have very good programming skills. You already have experience with mathematical optimization methods and you are motivated to work in new fields (e.g. spatial optimization). Furthermore, you are experienced in writing scientific publications.
