**Liaison:** Informal liaison with the Office of the Chair of the IUCN-SSC to assist with training, network building and work plan preparation  

**Job Description:**  
The role involves key responsibilities in implementing the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Assess-Plan-Act model for small mammals, particularly for conservation efforts like those aimed at the Bavarian Pine Vole. This includes assessing the risk of extinction, planning effective conservation measures, and coordinating with stakeholders for species protection efforts.  

**Tasks:**  
- Collaborate on the IUCN assessment process and conservation planning for priority species.  
- Conduct species-specific research and background studies.  
- Serve as a reviewer for assessments before publication.  
- Organize and moderate workshops and conferences.  
- Write proposals, reports, and scientific papers.  
- Maintain active collaboration with various interest groups and partners.  

**Focus:** Effective, shared management of small mammals. One focus species is the Bavarian pine vole, with native species conservation as a priority.

**Responsibilities and Requirements for Species Survival Officer:**

**Training and Participation:**
- Engage in IUCN SSC and CPSG training and education, including courses on the IUCN Red List and Conservation Planning.
- Facilitate workshops and support fundraising to enhance wildlife conservation efforts.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Play a pivotal role in fostering partnerships and improving assessment, planning, and action capacities.
- Expand personal knowledge on relevant scientific topics and take on additional tasks as required.

**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's or higher degree in life sciences/conservation.
- Proficiency in English and experience in program management and stakeholder engagement.
- Skills in data management and conservation planning are advantageous.
