Job Description
Location: La Palma, Canary Islands – DELTA Project
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary Range: €19,720 - €37,119 annually, plus up to 30% additional performance-based bonuses.
About the Project: The DELTA Project focuses on implementing a comprehensive marine environment observation program following the 2021 volcanic eruption in La Palma. The goal is to enhance understanding of the affected marine ecosystem and promote sustainable management based on scientific research.
Key Responsibilities:Research and Monitoring: Lead research activities related to marine biodiversity, focusing on the impact of environmental changes, particularly following volcanic events.
Project Management: Oversee tasks assigned to PLOCAN, ensuring timely and accurate completion of project deliverables, reports, and technical documentation.
Fieldwork: Plan, organize, and participate in field campaigns for sample collection and oceanographic data acquisition.
Data Analysis: Analyze and model ecosystem data, ensuring adherence to international data collection standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with other researchers, attend scientific meetings, conferences, and contribute to project discussions and strategy.
Communication: Maintain and update project-related websites, and disseminate research findings through scientific publications and presentations.
Required Qualifications:Education: Master’s degree in Experimental Sciences (MECES 3).
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in marine biodiversity monitoring or related research.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with oceanographic data analysis, use of remote underwater vehicles, and GIS tools.
Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Spanish (if it is not your native language) with a minimum B2 level as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with DNA analysis in marine environments.
Certification in project management methodologies (e.g., PM2, PRINCE2).
Experience in international research collaborations and scientific publishing.
