EIT Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) is Europe's leading climate innovation initiative, entrusted by the European Commission to drive transformation through innovation. We are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model, having historically been funded by our founder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT).
About the Role
We are seeking a Learning Designer and Facilitator to join our Learning, Insights and MEL team. This role is key in designing and developing capacity-building activities for cross-cutting projects, following the Climate-KIC Sensemaking methodology. The successful candidate will work closely with local governments and citizens in Gipuzkoa (Basque Country) on a community engagement initiative focused on climate action.
Key Responsibilities
- Design learning content in alignment with Climate-KIC's Systems Innovation approach and Sensemaking methodology.
- Lead and deliver system innovation services, working with partners to explore and build innovation portfolios and experiments.
- Translate complex ideas into actionable projects, initiatives, or experiments using design methodologies.
- Facilitate relationships and learning within local community practice groups, focusing on the Gipuzkoa ecosystem. This will involve both in-person and online activities.
- Contribute to sensemaking and extract value from innovation and education initiatives to support policymaking, decision-making, and capital allocation.
Key Working Relationships
- Collaborate with EIT Climate-KIC teams (Learning, Insights and MEL, Cities and Regions, Industry Value Chain, and others).
- Work with Climate-KIC Challenge Owners and partners, including European Commission stakeholders and international funders.
About You
We’re looking for someone passionate about making a positive impact on climate change through systemic innovation. You should be curious, perceptive, respectful, resilient, and skilled at networking and facilitating conversations.
Education/Qualifications
- Relevant academic degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science), Environmental Sciences, or Design (e.g., Service Design).
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in facilitating large-scale multi-stakeholder workshops and designing learning content (both online and in-person).
- Proven track record in systems transformation and development.
- Experience building coalitions and fostering collaboration to expand the space for engagement.
- Knowledge of supporting senior decision-making, facilitating change, and nurturing dialogue in complex contexts.
- Familiarity with the Basque Country ecosystem and experience working there.
Skills
- Fluency in English, Spanish, and Basque.
- Strong systems thinking applied to real-world change.
- Valid driver's license for travel within the Gipuzkoa region.
- Strong adaptive leadership and collaboration skills, with a focus on human-centered design and empathy.
- Familiarity with collaborative IT applications (e.g., Office365, Microsoft Teams, Miro, Zoom, Mentimeter).

Location
Candidates must have the right to work in Spain. While the role is based in Spain, EIT Climate-KIC supports fully remote or hybrid working arrangements and offers flexibility.
