- Spring Session: January 8 – April 2
- Summer Session: June 5 – August 23
Location: Afloat (marine-based environment with frequent island activities)
Job Description
The Marine Science Instructor will teach two college-level courses:
- Introduction to Oceanography (3 credits)
- Introduction to Marine Biology (3 credits)
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering lectures and practical activities for both courses.
- Designing, administering, and grading quizzes, exams, papers, and presentations.
- Mentoring students in both academic and non-academic aspects of the program.
- Participating in sailing, scuba diving, and onboard duties like cooking, cleaning, and provisioning.
- Supervising students during island field trips, hikes, and other activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum: Master’s degree in Oceanography or Marine Science, with at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in relevant coursework.
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Current Primary and Secondary Care certifications, including CPR.
Preferred Qualifications
- PADI Divemaster or Instructor certification.
- USCG Captain’s License or RYA/MCA Yachtmaster (200 ton).
- Emergency Medical Technician (or equivalent medical certification).
