Field Technician in Ornithology - Caribbean Wildlife Research
Location: Martinique Organization: Caribaea Initiative Type: 3-month fixed-term contract (renewable) Salary: €2,040–€2,200 gross monthly Start: Jan 2 - Feb 1, 2025 Deadline: January 31, 2025
Role Description: Field technician supporting wildlife research projects in French Antilles:
- Deploy camera traps and acoustic recorders
- Conduct site surveys
- Set up trapping systems
- Handle birds and reptiles
- Collect biological samples
Requirements:
- Minimum: BTSA Nature Management, Professional Bachelor's in Environmental Management, or Biology degree
- French language proficiency (Creole highly valued, English desirable)
- Valid driver's license
- Good physical condition
- Database and basic IT skills
- Strong naturalist knowledge of Martinican/Caribbean fauna
- Ability to work autonomously in field conditions
- Experience with scientific protocols
- Strong teamwork skills
