Marine Biodiversity Researcher (mid-level)
We are seeking a marine biodiversity researcher to support our global projects through desktop studies, including data analysis and literature reviews. This fully remote role is ideal for someone passionate about marine biology and keen to use their skills to shape impactful, data-driven reports for our clients.

ORGANIZATION Bluedot Associates - An internationally recognized marine biodiversity consultancy specializing in assessing, mitigating and managing development risks on marine biodiversity.

MAIN DESCRIPTION This is a mid-level Marine Biodiversity Researcher position focusing on:
- Undertaking desktop studies to determine marine biodiversity baselines
- Defining opportunities for conservation actions
- Assessing marine biodiversity impacts and risks for development projects
- Working with geospatial experts to produce data-driven reports
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct desktop data assessments and comprehensive literature reviews
- Gather, synthesize, manage and analyze baseline biodiversity data for development projects
- Contribute to nature positive and marine biodiversity risk projects
- Work alongside geospatial experts to integrate spatial data into projects
- Provide clear, high-quality written outputs, including reports and presentations
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Masters or PhD degree in a (marine) biodiversity related subject
- Over 3 years' experience of broad-context marine biodiversity research (outside of Bachelor or Masters degree)
- Experience in data analysis, including geospatial analysis and statistics
- Demonstrable experience gathering baseline marine biodiversity information
- Strong understanding of mitigating biodiversity risks
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
Desirable:
- Based in the UK
- Experience undertaking research globally
- Second language (French, Spanish or Portuguese preferred)
- Experience working with International Finance Institution safeguard standards
- Background in marine restoration and/or megafauna research
