The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest genome sequencing centers in Europe. CNAG supports national and international researchers, as well as clinicians, in their pursuit of cutting-edge research and clinical applications. The center participates in major international genome initiatives and operates state-of-the-art sequencing technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of samples for sequencing
- Implementing new protocols
- Keeping rigorous audit trails of the work carried out, writing and updating documentation such as Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)
- Recognizing and reporting erroneous protocol outcomes
- Stock and orders management
Requirements:
📌 Professional experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in molecular biological procedures, including PCR, cloning, DNA restriction enzyme digestion, and HMW DNA/RNA extraction procedures
📌 Must Have:
- Excellent laboratory techniques, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team
- Capable of working with computers and common software packages
- Strong laboratory device handling skills
- Able to understand and speak English
📌 Desirable but not required:
- Experience with 2nd and 3rd generation DNA sequencing technology
- Experience with ultra-HMW DNA extraction
📌 Education and training:
- Master or PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or similar
📌 Languages:
- Proficient in English
📌 Technical skills:
- Advanced MS Office skills
📌 Competences:
- Work safely in a laboratory, maintaining excellent housekeeping
- Understand and follow quality procedures to meet regulatory requirements
- Prepare for laboratory tasks using appropriate scientific techniques
- Perform laboratory tasks following specified methodologies, such as SOPs
- Operate laboratory equipment, including calibration when required
- Produce reliable, accurate data and maintain detailed records
