Responsibilities: We are looking for a colleague to join and enrich our research group in the long term. Our applied research evaluates how nature and society interact and how environmental policy and ecosystem management can influence both. We use spatially explicit environmental data to understand the distribution of species and ecosystems across geographic areas and over time and how these interact with human uses/impacts.
The candidate will develop an independent line of research within the field of conservation biology and applied ecology and team up with group members to develop new ideas in this field. The position includes teaching in Ecology and Global Change-related subjects within the framework of the Master Course on Sustainable Development and supervision of students. Interaction with the group and associated partners requires spoken and written English and (ideally) German language skills.
Requirements: We are looking for a dynamic, reliable and motivated candidate with a PhD in biology, ecology, environmental sciences or related disciplines (e.g., forestry, biostatistics, remote sensing) and at least 4 years of postdoctoral experience.
Location: University of Basel, Department of Environmental Sciences, Switzerland
